Modernization of AV Technology and Scenic Lighting Infrastructure of Prague Congress Center

AV EQUIPMENT NOW MEETS THE STANDARDS OF INTERNATIONAL CONGRESSES

Prague Congress Center belongs to the most important congress centers in Europe. But its fame is slowly falling due to obsolete equipment and insufficient capacity. The construction of a new multifunctional hall and extensive reconstruction of the center's interior are supposed to reverse this trend. Modernization of AV technology, in which we have participated, is part of this reconstruction.

What did we deal with during the modernization?

Reconstruction of the infrastructure system of AV technologies and scenic lighting
Supply of digital DiGiCo audio mixing consoles which control the stands of ChamSys scenic lightining and the end elements of scenic lighting

What are the advantages of our solution?

The analog system of sound distribution was replaced with a digital one which leads to the improvement of sound quality of the reproduced music production.
For the distribution of audio signal, we have used Dante a MADI technologies integrated into Optocore technology which enables the transimission of up to 512 audio channels.
The new digital infrastructure was designed in a way to enable its potential expandability and significant variability.

Technical Specification

Audio System

Newly designed audio system is based on the current standard which is based on digital processing and distribution of multichannel audio with the help of fixed and mobile AD/DA converters (stage box unit). Fixed stage boxes have 32 line/microphone inputs, phantom power, 16 line outputs, multichannel Opto MADI connectivity with up to 512 channels, connection via 2× opticalCON or MADI via etherCON. It operates at 96 kHz, if there are 28 input and 16 output channels via CAT5, at 48 kHz if a total capacity is 32 input and 16 output channels.

The entire distribution system and operating of new DiGiCo SD5 and SD10 digital mixing consoles is based on the topology of the interconnection of all elements in the system using a redundant optical wiring. For distribution, we have designed Dante digital distribution protocol using the benefits of classic (metallic, optical) cabling. The transfer to digital domain itself is realized by stage boxes which are freely configurable.

Video System

Mobile video equipment for Congress Hall and Forum Hall we have expanded with Extron converters (transmitters and receivers) that allow video signal processing at 4K resolution. Video signal distribution, which is also dimensioned for 4K resolution, is solved by a coaxial and optical cabling which terminates on patch panels.

Scenic Lighting

We have complemented the current system in order to expand technical parameters of lighting equipment and its control, including new control cabling and the required connection points. For Congress Hall and Forum Hall, we have delivered and installed ChamSys scenic lighting control panels and ROBE and Robert Juliat smart lights (profile forming lights, LED lights with effects, LED PAR lights).
